The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and RTI International have an NIH grant (R34MH123328) to develop a customizable decision aid for HIV remission (鈥渃ure鈥) research. Decision aids, which are used prior to standard informed consent, are a promising approach to enhance the quality of research decision making.听听
Our decision aid 鈥 called Decision Partner 鈥 is for early phase HIV remission trials that include analytic treatment interruption (ATI). We have conducted formative research with people living with HIV and with clinical trial personnel. We also sought guidance from key stakeholders.
We invite you to provide input on Decision Partner!听
We created two modules on particularly challenging components of the decision aid. The modules include voice-over/narration. In each one, we provide a summary of the challenges, relevant literature, and what 飞别鈥檝别 heard from our research participants and community advisors. At the end of each module, we ask you to give feedback via a brief survey. If you want to send more detailed feedback, you can email us at: rmoultrie@rti.org
Please note, this engagement activity closed on October 15. Thank you for your interest.

Patient decision aids鈥痑re tools that facilitate decision making by:鈥听
- Making explicit the decision鈥听
- Providing information about the options and outcomes鈥听
- Clarifying personal values鈥听
鈥Decision aids are designed to complement, rather than replace, shared decision making with a clinician.鈥疭imilarly, in the clinical trial context, Decision Partner will complement, and not replace,鈥痶he informed consent process.鈥听
