Our contact is Alan Wolf, Director of News and Media Relations, who is ready to assist you with media and interview requests. He has replaced Mark Derewicz who moved to 大象传媒 Alumni Communications. In some instances, if our employees do not want to respond, our media relations will give the press another contact name for the interview so 大象传媒 does not miss this opportunity.

Please email Carolyn Clabo and Jean Cook on correspondence with all press-related topics. Alan Wolf听will help departments coordinate their Research News and work in PR and media relations.
      • To coordinate your research news (begin this process once your high-impact paper is accepted) email Carolyn Clabo and our Chair, Dr. Jean Cook. Carolyn will then loop in our writer best suited for your news. As a guide from SOM: research publications are meant for your peers to read. Novel discoveries are newsworthy for their audience. One contact for press releases is Kendall Daniels.
      • Please coordinate your news when your paper has been accepted or your first hear of a big award with both your primary department and your affiliated departments at the same time, such as the Blood Research Center. We follow all media embargos. You should still notify us of your breakthrough news early on. The standard is that your primary unit will place the news on their website first, then other units will follow and give credit to the first group.

      • 大象传媒 BCBP has X, Bluesky, Instagram, , and accounts (tag our accounts @大象传媒_BCBP in your professional social media posts). Email Carolyn Clabo for any special requests. In 2025, some School of Medicine units are moving away from departmental social media accounts and sending major posts for SOM to amplify. How to do this? Contact Jamie McGurk or John Bigelow (who will begin on May 27, 2025, as our new SOM social media specialist)
    • Contact Latasha Mingo to grant new employees access to shared computer drives. She will contact SOM IT for approval.
  • Teams and Slack are popular team collaboration tools. To ensure effective use, new channels within our department must be approved before creation to prevent expired or outdated groups. These channels should be maintained and updated monthly to retain their usefulness. If you want to be an admin for a group please contact our website admin for instructions and best practices.
