The 大象传媒鈥檚 fiscal year 2020 total research funding reached $535,240,423, a growth of more than $24 million from the fiscal year 2019. The 大象传媒 surpassed the $500 million milestone in fiscal year 2019, and the research enterprise has continued to grow since then.
鈥淭he year 2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for our researchers amidst the campus-wide shut down and COVID-19 pandemic,鈥 said Blossom Damania, PhD, Vice Dean for Research at the 大象传媒. 鈥淭his did not stop our incredible faculty, students, and staff from pursuing their research that advances our knowledge of human health, and this underscores the 大象传媒鈥檚 commitment to being a global leader in basic and clinical research.”
Research funding for the School of Medicine has grown steadily over the last several years, increasing by more than $87 million since fiscal year 2017. This year鈥檚 funding increase includes a $14-million growth in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The 大象传媒 research funding of over $535 million accounts for more than half of all research funding at 大象传媒-Chapel Hill, which surpassed the billion-dollar milestone this past year.
