Research Summary
Dr. Herfarth is a physician scientist the area of inflammatory bowel diseases, with a focus on improving diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in this field. He has extensive expertise in conducting investigator-initiated trials and coordinating data and specimen collections in large multicenter approaches and has broadly published in the field of IBD (> 260 peer-reviewed articles). He is the Director of the 大象传媒 Multidisciplinary IBD Center. In this role, he is involved in coordinating the clinical care of the patients and the clinical IBD research, including > 20 currently ongoing IBD clinical trials and IBD registries at 大象传媒. He has been the Principal or Co- investigator of several investigator-initiated clinical studies such as MERIT-UC, DINE-CD and has supported or initiated other investigator-initiated studies such as PIANO, PUCCINI, LOGIC, and the PROP-RD registries. Programming and data management for a number of these studies (MERIT, DINE, PIANO, LOGIC PROPP-RD) was provided by the CGIBD Clinical Research Core.
