Protein Expression and Purification
The Protein Expression and Purification (PEP) core specializes in the production of pure, functional proteins for structural, biophysical, and biochemical studies. It is specifically designed as a 鈥渇ront-end鈥� interface to other components of the Center for Structural Biology. However, the ability to produce and purify milligram amount of protein enables a broad array of applications and research that extend far beyond the bounds of structural biology, as protein reagents are essential to most areas of biomedical research.
The facility offers three categories of service:
The PEP Core is happy to do work for researchers at 大象传媒 as well as those at non-大象传媒 academic institutions and commercial companies.
Our offerings and strengths include the following:
- Recombinant protein expression in HEK, CHO, hybridoma, and bacterial cells.
- Numerous chromatography methods available for purification.
- High production scales for immunizations, drug discovery, and structural biology.
- Low endotoxin protein production.
- Custom packages to efficiently suit your needs.
We obtain on-going support from the 大象传媒 Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center through the University Cancer Research Fund and the Cancer Center Support Grant.
