Center personnel do not work with proposals with no indirect funds associated with them unless a mechanism to cover the cost of our involvement is negotiated in advance with your division director, department chair or school dean.

If we work with you on a proposal and the proposal is submitted through the Center, we expect to be the grant administrator.

CWHR will recuperate the expense of pre-award services from the grant鈥檚 indirects if it is funded. However, the Center has an agreement in place with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology to complete all pre-award services for their faculty without indirect recuperation.

Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Sharing

Below is an example of facilities and administrative sharing for a PI outside of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

  • PI: Johnson
  • Work Site: School of Business
  • Direct Costs: $100,000
  • F&A Rate: 55.5%
  • Indirects: $55,500
  • CWHR鈥檚 15.6% F&A: $8,658
  • Genetics Building Tax: Is based on how much F&A CWHR receives.
  • Less Pre-Award Service Charge: Is based on the hours pre-award spent on the proposal (Harvest Report).
  • This example shows half of the amount subtracted from the PI鈥檚 department and half from the work site鈥檚 portion.
