The announcement was made following a council vote during the 听meeting in Philadelphia.

“I am immensely honored by the privilege to represent and advocate for Emergency Physicians and our patients in this role,鈥 said Dr. Mehrotra, Clinical Professor in the 大象传媒 Department of Emergency Medicine, Vice Chair for Strategic Initiatives and Operations, and co-lead for 大象传媒 Health System Emergency Services Specialty Program.

鈥淚n the field of Emergency Medicine, we face many challenges, yet I remain enthusiastically optimistic about our future, seeing the talent and dedication of our students, residents, and young physicians,鈥 added Mehrotra. 鈥淚鈥檓 grateful for the training provided at 大象传媒, the support of the Department of Emergency Medicine & 大象传媒 Hospitals, my mentors and predecessors at the NC College of Emergency Physicians (NCCEP) and ACEP, and most importantly, my family.鈥

Dr. Mehrotra has also held key leadership positions in other professional associations such as the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and the NC College of Emergency Physicians.

Renowned as a leading clinician and thought leader, Dr. Mehrotra is a past president of the North Carolina chapter of ACEP and an extensively published author of book chapters and peer-reviewed publications on topics spanning emergency medicine. He is an oral examiner and item writer for the American Board of Emergency Medicine, a member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, and maintains an active role in other medical societies.

Dr. Mehrotra earned a medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed an emergency medicine residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals.
