Biographical Information
Dr. Becker-Dreps is Director of the 大象传媒 Program in Nicaragua, Director of the Office of Global Health Education, and Professor in the Department of Epidemiology. Her research focuses on childhood diarrhea and the evaluation of vaccine effectiveness.聽 She has evaluated the impact of rotavirus immunization programs in Nicaragua and the US and is currently conducting studies to understand why rotavirus vaccines have lower effectiveness in low-income settings. She has also evaluated the impact of pneumococcal immunization programs in Nicaragua.

NIH Funds 大象传媒 Study to Investigate Maternal-Fetal Transmission of Zika
大象传媒 researchers led by Elizabeth Stringer, MD, Sylvia Becker-Dreps, MD, and Aravinda de Silva, PhD, along with collaborators in Nicaragua, have been given a five-year, $2.7 million R01 award from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) to better understand the epidemiology of Zika virus in pregnancy.
