Age-Based Genomic Screening

A multidisciplinary team of researchers at 大象传媒 Chapel Hill is investigating a novel Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS) alternative to genome-scale sequencing at birth. The research project aims to provide highly actionable genetic information to parents over the course of their child鈥檚 routine health care.

听 听 Stick figures at different age points going from: infant, toddler, small child, child, older child, teenager, and young adult/graduating adult.

This approach introduces genomic screening over time, preparing adolescents to engage in decision-making about future screening when they reach adulthood.

Who We Are

The ABGS project is funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI grant #R01HG012271) and led by 大象传媒 faculty Jonathan Berg, MD, PhD (PI, Bryson Distinguished Professor of Genetics and Medicine) and Laura Milko, PhD (MPI, Assistant Professor of Genetics).
