Lauren Donoghue, GMB Graduate Student in Dr. Samir Kelada鈥檚 laboratory, has been selected to attend the in Switzerland on August 18-22, 2019.
This is a multi-day聽program聽in which graduate聽and postdoctoral trainees gather with leading聽experts聽in the field聽for highly interactive discussions聽and presentations聽on cutting-edge topics聽in human genetics and genomics. Participants also聽receive one-to-one mentoring on areas of professional development in genomics. The聽program is currently in its 12th year, and is named after Dr.聽Leena Peltonen (1952-2010), an internationally renowned聽Finnish geneticist.
Additionally, Lauren received a for Professional Development in Genetics from the Genetics Society of America (GSA) toward attending this program.聽This is a $1,000 award “to support travel costs for young geneticists to attend national and international meetings and enroll in laboratory courses.”聽The award is named in honor of聽DeLill Nasser, a聽long-time GSA member and National Science Foundation (NSF)聽Program Director in Eukaryotic Genetics.
