1. Reduce inappropriate use of parenteral nutrition (PN)

• Oral/enteral nutrition always preferred
• PN <3 days = risk and little to no benefit

2. Improve timing of PN initiation

• If unable to receive adequate oral/enteral nutrition:
  • 7 days well-nourished
  • 3-5 days nutritionally-at-risk
  • ASAP baseline moderate or severe malnutrition

3. Implement PN safety assessment and education
