At ´óÏó´«Ã½ the faculty and staff within the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism are dedicated to training the next generation of outstanding endocrinologists. Upon completion of training, our fellows pursue a variety of career pathways. Following graduation, most graduates engage in academic or community clinical practice. We have a strong track record of preparing future clinical educators who pursue academic faculty positions and become clinical leaders in the field. With a broad range of vibrant diabetes and endocrine focused research happening across the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Chapel Hill campus, we are well equipped to mentor and train fellows interested in pursuing a physician scientist career pathway. Typically, our fellows spend two years with us, however in certain instances a third year of fellowship training is an option for those who desire a career in research.

Outpatient Clinical Services

Our outpatient clinical services are provided at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Eastowne Medical Office Building. In our clinics, we staff more than 20,000 visits, including more than 3,500 new patients each year. We use a team approach and team members include physicians, nurse practitioners, Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, pharmacists, nurses, medical assistants and a financial counselor. Fellows participate in various outpatient clinics during both their first and second years of training.
