
This past summer,聽Dr. Claire Larson, assistant professor of medicine in the 大象传媒 Division of Geriatrics, joined two 大象传媒 students in Nagoya, Japan. MD/PhD student Ray Cheever and聽and a second-year medical student Grace Lian represented 大象传媒. They were joined by two Duke University students, two UC Davis students, and six students from China for Nagoya University School of Medicine鈥檚 ‘Bridging Community Medicine and Innovations in Japan’ program.
About the experience, Dr. Larson says, 鈥淚 loved the informative and engaging week I spent in Nagoya exploring the challenges and innovations of healthcare in Japan and our respective countries. As a geriatrician, I was particularly interested in learning about the Japanese care system for older adults. I was honored to be able to engage and collaborate with such dynamic, thoughtful, and innovative colleagues and students.’

大象传媒 is again partnering with Nagoya University School of Medicine for the 2025 program. Two applicants will be selected to participate. To apply, submit a CV, statement of purpose/interest, and a letter of recommendation to oghe@med.unc.edu. Applications are due February 28. Selections will be announced on March 18.
