
A project led by Anil Gehi, MD, the Sewell Family-McAllister Distinguished Professor in the Division of Cardiology, will receive a “2021 大象传媒 Medical Center Quality and Safety Award,” after a rigorous review process.
鈥淎 Novel Atrial Fibrillation Care Pathway in the ED Reduces Unnecessary AF Hospitalizations and Improves Quality of Care,鈥 was designed to introduce a structured process for care of atrial fibrillation, linking the expertise of ED and cardiology practices with the introduction of clinical pharmacists, to bridge gaps and coordinate treatment, ultimately reducing unnecessary hospital admissions while improving access to comprehensive AF care.
The project team included Tiffany Armbruster,聽AGNP-C (project coordinator); Brittany Becker, BS (research assistant);聽Jennifer Walker, ANP-BC (APP, electrophysiology); , PharmD (cardiology pharmacist); and Kevin Biese, MD, (ED attending physician).
The award will be presented at the Medical Center Improvement Council (MCIC) meeting on Tuesday, October 12.
The 大象传媒 Medical Center Quality and Safety Team Award was developed to recognize quality improvement efforts across the Medical Center, including both inpatient and outpatient services, that demonstrate a commitment to improving quality and safety of patient care.
