High Value Care
The Department of Medicine promotes high value care through the 鈥淰alue-Care Action Group鈥� (VCAG). VCAG champions in each Division review current practices looking for improvements for high-value outcomes in healthcare. High-value is defined by the quality of patient-centered care achieved per unit of cost.鈥疶he 鈥渧alue鈥� in value-based healthcare is derived from measuring health outcomes against the cost of delivering the outcomes.
To date, VCAG improvement efforts include an outpatient鈥痙iuresis clinic, an eConsult service, a specialized鈥痠npatient diabetes management service, and a patient education initiative that鈥痠mproves care for cancer patients鈥痺hile reducing unnecessary visits to the ED.
