Kate grew up in North Carolina and attended Duke for college where she graduated with degrees in Biology, Chemistry, History and Public Health. After college she worked for two years with AmeriCorps in Rocky Mount. Her work in Rocky Mount included clinical work with a FQHC as well as work as a census field agent in Nash County during the pandemic. As a medical student, she has continued to demonstrate a commitment to caring for the underserved as the co-coordinator for the SHAC Bloomer Hill clinic. Kate cofounded the Interprofessional student interest group and is actively involved with the Beyond Medicine Book Club. Kate has also served as one of our Student Chiefs. In recognition of her outstanding academic performance, Kate was inducted into the AOA Honor Society.
