Bonnie Alexander, PA-C, RDN, originally from California, is on our Diabetes Care Team. Grain bowls are one of her favorite foods!

I am one of the endocrine APPs on the Diabetes Care Team. We focus on helping manage diabetes and hyperglycemia inpatient, specifically with surgical patients.

I am from Beaufort, South Carolina.

I didn’t always plan on being a PA. I started my career as a registered dietitian and found that I wanted to be more involved in patient care, which lead me to PA school. I am so happy with that decision and my RD experience often comes in handy when working with diabetes.

I love getting to work with a diverse patient population. I find it extremely rewarding when I can connect with my patients and their families and help support them during a challenging time.

My role has expanded some since I started three and a half years ago. We have added a number of new surgical services to our automatic consult service. I have also taken on more leadership roles and started working in some inpatient clinical trials.

Professionally, I am so proud to be part of a strong group of APPs that I truly enjoy working with every day.

If I didn’t work in medicine I would love to work with animals in some way.

I love doing hot yoga, reading, and traveling.

This is a hard one! I love grain bowls with a variety of toppings.

Over the next year I would like to continue to grow my leadership skills. I enjoy working with learners and I would like to do this more as well.

The last song I listened to was Eyes Closed by Ed Sheeran. I am going to his concert in a few weeks and can’t wait!

Bonnie Alexander, PA-C, RDN, originally from California, is on our Diabetes Care Team.
