In recognition of National Diabetes Month, the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism highlights its groundbreaking research efforts through the EnDO CRU (Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Obesity Clinical Research Unit). Under the leadership of Dr. Klara Klein<\/a>, the unit currently conducts over 20 active studies targeting type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as obesity.<\/em><\/p>\n Pioneering Therapies for Type 1 Diabetes<\/strong> Advancing Type 2 Diabetes Treatment<\/strong> Investigating the Link Between Sleep and Glucose Regulation <\/strong><\/p>\n A collaborative study led by Dr. Janice Hwang<\/a>, chief of the 大象传媒 Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, in partnership with Dr. Jane Fan from Neurology<\/a> and Dr. Leping Li from NIEHS,<\/a> is delving into how type 2 diabetes affects sleep brain waves. Sleep\u2019s role in glucose regulation is vital, with specific brain waveforms\u2014such as slow oscillations, spindles, and sharp wave-ripples\u2014being essential for maintaining glucose homeostasis. Early findings indicate that type 2 diabetes may disrupt these waveforms, impairing glucose regulation.
