Associate Professor, Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
Hailey Leiva, MSWProject Manager
Hailey earned her MSW from the 大象传媒 School of Social Work with field work in nonprofit, education and community-based mental health settings. Her experience includes sexual violence prevention, adolescent mental health and community engaged research. Her research interests include community-based approaches to healthy equity, queer and trans-inclusive sexual health interventions, and social determinants of health.
Emma Brockman, MAResearch Assistant
Emma聽is earning her Masters in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the 大象传媒 School of Education. She received her B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies from 大象传媒-CH. She is interested in developing intuitive new technologies and curriculum content building to better serve local communities.
Lucy BurwellResearch Assistant
Lucy is a MPH student in Maternal, Child, and Family Health at the 大象传媒 Gillings School of Global Public Health. She received her B.S. from the University of Michigan, with a degree in Public Health Sciences. She has a passion for applying public health analyses to the medical field and for preventive medical care. She plans to apply to medical school, with the goal of integrating her interests in public health and medicine to reduce health inequities.
Emily ButlerGraduate Student
Emily is pursuing her DNP at the 大象传媒 School of Nursing, focusing on pediatric primary care. She earned her BSN from the MGH Institute of Health Professions and is working as a registered nurse in pediatric intensive care. She aims to work with adolescents, particularly addressing women鈥檚 health concerns post-graduation.
Sarah Rebbeor, MPHMedical Student
Sarah is a third-year medical student at the 大象传媒. She earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Physiology from North Carolina State University.聽Sarah has a strong background in adolescent health, health communication, and sexual and reproductive health education. She is dedicated to empowering women and protecting reproductive rights, and particularly tailoring health care delivery and health education to meet their needs.
Initha Setiady, MDPediatric Resident
Initha is currently an intern with the 大象传媒 pediatrics residency program. She received her B.A. and M.D. from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She is passionate about health equity and sexual and reproductive health. She hopes to pursue a fellowship in adolescent medicine after residency.
Cambray SmithGraduate Student
Cambray is an MD-PhD student who is doing some of her dissertation work with the ACCESS Lab. She is in the HPM doctoral program at the 大象传媒 Gillings School of Public Health, and MD candidate at 大象传媒. She received her B.S. from North Carolina State University. Her interests are in patient-provider communication, online health information, sexual and reproductive health, ethics, and equity. She plans to pursue a career in adolescent-focused primary care.

Carol Golin, MD
Mentor
Carol is a Professor in the Department of Health Behavior Professor and Department of Medicine. She is also director of the Social and Behavioral Research Core at the 大象传媒 Center for AIDS Research. Dr. Golin studies the influence of patient-provider communication on health outcomes with a particular interest in the effects of enhanced patient participation in medical decision-making.
Samantha Schiling, MD MSHPMentor
Samantha is an Associate Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Clinically, she is a Child Abuse pediatrician, specializing in the evaluation and care of children who have suffered abuse or neglect. Her research focuses on mechanisms to prevent child abuse. Specifically, Dr. Schilling studies the impact parenting programs can have increasing parental self-efficacy, effectiveness, and reducing severe discipline and abuse.
