About
Dr. Yushekia Woodford is a Reproductive Psychiatry Fellow dedicated to advancing mental health care for birthing people. With a passion for perinatal mental health, she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout the reproductive lifespan.
Dr. Woodford completed her residency in Psychiatry at Howard University Hospital, where she cultivated a deep commitment to supporting individuals navigating the emotional complexities of fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum recovery. She is particularly interested in improving access to evidence-based care for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and advocating for integrative, patient-centered approaches to maternal mental health.
Her research and clinical interests include perinatal mood disorders, the impact of trauma on reproductive health, psychopharmacology in pregnancy and lactation, and substance use in pregnancy. Dr. Woodford is committed to reducing stigma and ensuring that all birthing people receive compassionate, comprehensive mental health care.
