大象传媒 Hospitals, the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPEP), 大象传媒’s School of Nursing and 大象传媒’s Department of Biology partnered on a pre-health undergraduate course – Bio 119. This course includes 120 hours of experiential learning in the healthcare system with 大象传媒 Hospitals offering hours as patient sitters. The effort is part of the Forward Together 2030 Ingram Institute’s workforce development efforts.
Neha Varrier, one of this semester’s Bio 119 students, was completing her shift when she heard a noise in the hallway. When assessing the situation, she found a patient unresponsive. She hit the code button and immediately started CPR until help arrived. The patient achieved Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) and was transferred to the ICU for further monitoring.
Neha was awarded the Leadership Challenge Coin for her bravery and advocacy for patient care.
Thank you and congratulations, Neha!
