Dr. Brian Diekman recently received a R21 grant funded through the National Institute of Health (NIH); National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS). The project, 鈥淔unctional interrogation of putative osteoarthritis causal variants鈥, leverages advanced molecular biology and sequencing technologies to identify the specific genetic changes that affect cells in the joint. A better understanding of how genetic risk factors contribute to osteoarthritis may identify molecular pathways that could be targeted with new therapies.
Dr. Diekman is an Assistant Professor in 大象传媒 and NC State University鈥檚 Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. 大象传媒 Co-Investigators for this project include Dr. Doug Phanstiel and Dr. Richard Loeser.
