Dr. Brian Diekman recently received a R21 grant funded through the National Institute of Health (NIH); National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS). The project, 鈥淔unctional interrogation of putative osteoarthritis causal variants鈥�, leverages advanced molecular biology and sequencing technologies to identify the specific genetic changes that affect cells in the joint. A better understanding of how genetic risk factors contribute to osteoarthritis may identify molecular pathways that could be targeted with new therapies.
