The Fessler laboratory investigates mechanisms of induction and regulation of the innate immune response, with a focus on Toll like Receptors (TLRs). Approaches used include studies of TLR signal transduction (biochemistry, molecular biology) in cultured macrophages; in vivo models of lung injury, pneumonia, and sepsis in mice; and translational studies involving human peripheral blood leukocytes.
