The ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering the development of future generations of physician-scientists who will improve children’s health.
Goal of the Carolina Child Health Scholars Program
The goal of the program is to provide a comprehensive, collaborative, resource-rich environment to foster the development of diverse and successful pediatric physician-investigators. This program is designed for physicians entering fellowships/sub-specialty residency programs. The Pediatric Physician Scientist Training Program is intended for those entering a pediatric residency program at ´óÏó´«Ã½.

- Ensure >75% protected time for research training experiences in 2nd and 3rd year of fellowship

- Mentoring teams to facilitate optimal transitions to a faculty position

- Established community of pediatric physician-scientists in training
- Grantsmanship course and personalized guidance on your grant proposals
- Financial Support:
- Year 1: $5,000 Professional Development Stipend
- $3000 for purchase of computer, software, journal fees
- $2,000 travel to conferences
Eligibility
Competitive fellowship applicants will demonstrate a commitment to a career in academic pediatrics and a desire to become a clinician-investigator with research as a component of their career. Interested individuals may apply after acceptance into a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Pediatric fellowship.

• Monthly career development meetings/seminars
• Present at the Annual Department of Pediatrics Scholars Day
• Annual Carolina Child Health Scholars Program Retreat
• Present at national/international meetings
• End of Fellowship Grand Rounds presentation
• Grantsmanship Course
• Mock study section for all grant submissions with individualized grant support
